NYKA Africa - Fair and mindful travel
NYKA is based on the Swahili word “Nyika”, which means “wilderness” or “untouched plains”. Tanzania’s wilderness and untouched nature are unique in the world and magically beautiful.
NYKA was founded out of passion. Our intention is to show you what we see as the most meaningful and authentic experiences of Tanzania – keeping in mind a positive impact for local communities.
Our Mission
Our priority is to craft high-quality, immersive and mindful travel experiences that contribute a positive impact to local communities, environment and innovation, shaping the places we visit. We explore with respect for traditions and add to local efforts to preserve cultural heritage. Our travelers experience local life as it is, immersing themselves from a different angle. We rethink tourism in Africa. Be part of our mission!

Who are we?
We are Nick and Franziska, both passionate about sustainability, social justice and the environment. We have long histories of volunteering in Tanzania in different organizations and have both obtained a university degree in “Sustainable Development”. Nick was born and raised in Arusha and has been volunteering for many years in conservation and community work, especially in projects with the Maasai. Eight years ago, Franziska came to Tanzania for the first time and has since been involved in different projects, especially targeting sustainable tourism.
